Dallas Enhances Love Field Gateway in Preparation for FIFA World Cup 2026

As Dallas gears up to welcome visitors from around the globe for the FIFA World Cup 2026, the city is putting its best foot forward — starting right at the gateway to Dallas Love Field Airport.

The improvements along Mockingbird Lane are part of a broader citywide effort to create a smooth, inviting, and vibrant experience for everyone arriving in North Texas next summer.

“All of this work is being done in preparation for FIFA 2026,” said Rozalind Dickerson Cleaver, community engagement manager for the Department of Aviation. “It’s like getting your home ready before company arrives. We’re expecting guests from all over the world, and we want to make sure they see Dallas at its best.”

Construction teams are enhancing the roadway, landscaping, and infrastructure to ensure travelers enjoy a pleasant approach to the airport and nearby areas. The section between Lemmon Avenue and Cedar Springs Road is scheduled for completion by November 30, 2025, while the final phase — from Cedar Springs Road to Stemmons Freeway — will be finished by March 2026.

To support smooth travel during the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, the city plans to temporarily pause work near the airport entrance, keeping traffic flowing for visitors and residents alike.

By the time the first fans arrive next summer, Dallas will be ready to roll out a beautiful new welcome mat — one that reflects the city’s signature hospitality, energy, and pride as it takes the global stage for the FIFA World Cup 2026.
